There are many reasons that the Morans are inspiring to me – Mike’s co-founding of 20BelowCoffee, Danae’s years of working in global anti-trafficking efforts at Unseen, and their adorable hipster style. Yet above any accomplishments or surface-level attributes, they inspire me at a much deeper level. The Morans have chosen to live their lives with a level of intention and grace that is countercultural and truly beautiful.
It’s been a joy to watch them the last several years – to learn from all the little conversations and to see all their small decisions that make up their life. Danae has been a mentor and source of guidance in my own personal and professional life. And while she’s said many things to me that have continued to shape me, the way that she lives has been the loudest message.
Together, Mike and Danae made the decision this fall for Danae to stay home with Audrey, their sweet one-year-old daughter (who I believe to be the cutest baby in all of Fargo). While Danae is still writing and on the team at 20Below, she’s cultivating a slower life of investing in the daily details of home life. Watching her walk away from the busy in pursuit of the important has been deeply inspiring.
It was an honor to get to crash a Sunday afternoon filled with French press and cuddles and avocados. Without any more delay, here are the Morans in their element – music playing, coffee brewing, Audrey smiling.
